External Supply Chain in Lundbeck
The department External Supply Chain consists of seven employees and is a part of the business unit Global Supply Chain, which employs 100 employees in Denmark, France and USA. External Supply Chain is located in Valby, Denmark, and plays a key role in ensuring supply reliability for existing and future products. We are responsible for supporting the supply chain by ensuring availability of externally sourced components and managing contract manufacturing organizations.
External Supply Chain drives Lundbeck’s Supplier Performance Management System, which serves to monitor and improve supplier performance within quality, reliability and cost. Together with internal stakeholders from quality, manufacturing and sourcing, we work to increase the value from external suppliers and thereby contribute to creating the best supply chain in the pharmaceutical industry.
The Lean philosophy is an integral part of our daily work and we continuously strive to improve processes across the supply chain. We interact with a number of different departments in Lundbeck across our sites in Denmark, France, USA and Italy, as well as our supplier base of more than 400 suppliers. We encourage initiative and work closely together to ensure that we make the right priorities.
Your job and the journey
In this graduate track, you will be anchored in External Supply Chain where you will have the operational and tactical responsibility for a group of suppliers. It will be your task to ensure availability of products, by developing forecasts, ordering and monitoring inventory development. You will learn to apply Lean tools and drive the performance of your suppliers via Lundbeck’s Supplier Performance Management System.
After ramp up you will be tasked with developing a more robust process across the operational, strategic and financial aspects of sourcing. This includes rotation and collaboration with areas such as Group Sourcing in Valby, Denmark and Finance in Krakow, Poland. Our ambition is to strengthen the insight into inter-dependencies, limiting purchasing variances and to establish a stronger link between actions and financials on a spend area which represents 17% of Lundbeck’s Cost of Sales. This cross-functional task will give you a unique insight into different professional areas.
