We are the Maps & Geospatial - a Microsoft team that drives the future of Maps across a wide majority of Microsoft services. Our software development team, located in Belgrade, is building some of the most advanced parts of the ecosystem primarily focused on building up the Open Maps Data community and corpus.
Open Maps is primarily represented by but is an emerging movement through which governments, government agencies and other organizations are opening their datasets for the benefit of everyone. Microsoft wants to play a key role in this movement through motivating our vast community of users to contribute with their local knowledge and later share it with everyone through our excellent set of geospatial services.
We are hiring a Software Engineer who are passionate and highly motivated to work on researching, driving, solving both deep technical problems, working in open data and open code systems. If you are eager for taking a challenge, Maps & Geospatial is the place for you!


  • Design, produce and deliver software to improve the reliability, scalability, performance, security, efficiency, etc. of a service.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the world to address all requirements needed to run top of the line consumer services.
  • Participate actively in code reviews, bug/issue triage with the feature teams, and support well informed decisions towards business and engineering goals.
  • Review and influence ongoing design, architecture, standards and methods for operating services and systems.


  • Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Demonstrated excellence in coding and technical communication
  • Demonstrated problem solving and debugging skills
  • Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including, but not limited to: Java, C/C++, C#, Python, JavaScript, PowerShell
  • Experience in owning a responsibility of components or feature areas
  • The ability to multi-task while balancing short-term and long-term tasks
  • Strong customer focus and data driven approach
  • End-to-end Delivery and Innovation
  • Adaptability in fast paced environment
  • Great collaboration and team-player skills

Preferred qualifications
  • General experience in open-source development
  • Experience with Maps data and/or Geospatial services
