DTU Space at Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a position as test engineer
DTU Space is the leading institution of public space activities in Denmark. The mission of the Institute is to conduct research, development, scientific advice, education, and innovation at the highest international level within the following areas: Space Technology & Instrumentation, Earth Observation & Geoscience and Space & Astrophysics. DTU Space is engaged in several engineering educations based on high international level research at the institute. Particular emphasis is on the BSc and MSc programs in Earth and Space Physics and Engineering.

The research done by the department has led to several novel measurement principles, which encompass multi-sensor-head star trackers for improved maneuverability, sub-arcsecond accuracy instruments, miniature magnetometer packages for planetary landers and rendezvous docking systems. The candidate will be part of the test team and participate in development process.

Responsibilities and tasks
Every flight instrument undergoes an extended environmental test program including, among others, standard function test, electrical test, burn-in, in-rush current test, crystal and thermistor calibration, thermal tests in vacuum and ambient pressure, as well as a comprehensive EMC test. The test program is executed at DTU Space and the candidate is expected to partake in the majority of the test program, contributing to the test set ups, conducting the tests, completing test reports in English and maintaining the test equipment.

Additionally, depending on experience and field of interest, the candidate will be involved in some of complementary areas like Product Assurance, prototype development and test, PCB layout, test equipment calibration or test set up verification.

The candidate is expected to have a relevant education and a documented experience. Knowledge of LabVIEW is mandatory and experience in the EMC field is a strong advantage.

Space instrumentation requires extremely high quality and reliability of the products thus the candidate is expected to have particularly quality and detail oriented work style. Motivation plays the key role in the assessment of the candidates.

Interaction within the highly specialized team requires good communication skills.

The ability to communicate competently in oral and written English is a requirement of this position.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
