DTU Wind Energy at the Technical University of Denmark has a vacancy in the "Aerodynamic Design Section” at DTU Risø Campus.
The competences in this section are aerodynamics, aero acoustics, CFD and CFD-structure coupling and systems engineering. We focus on the development of models for the design, analysis and improvement of blades and wind turbines and the validation of the models in full-scale tests or wind tunnel experiments.
Responsibilities and tasks
Your work will mainly focus on the operation and further development of the new Poul la Cour Tunnel (the Danish National Wind Tunnel). A minor part of the work will be application and validation of our in-house aerodynamic and aeroelastic engineering models for wind turbines. You will be responsible for the daily operation of the Poul la Cour Tunnel including setup and execution of tests and analysis of results. The work will be carried out in cooperation with our researchers in experimental aerodynamics. The facility is an aerodynamic and aeroacoustic wind tunnel and dedicated wind energy. The instrumentation consists of 384 pressure scanners, 84 microphones and miscellaneous sensors.
The wind tunnel operation will be closely connected to the aerodynamic research at DTU carried out by around 40 persons. As the facility is a national research infrastructure many external users such as universities and Danish and Global wind turbine manufacturers will test in the tunnel. You will participate in a number of national and international research and commercial projects and contribute to the development of the wind tunnel, the development of measurement methods and thus the further optimization of the aerodynamic efficiency of wind turbines.
