The Urban Water Engineering section at the Department of Environmental Engineering offers a 3 year position in quantitative modelling of urban water for strategic planning under deep uncertainty. The position is a key element in the Water Smart Cities project funded by Innovation Fund Denmark with participation of leading Danish industries and utilities within urban water management.
Responsibilities and tasks
The postdoc will develop modelling tools that support strategic planning of urban storm- and wastewater management. This includes a quantification of how different management strategies satisfy different stakeholder needs, as well as an assessment of the robustness of strategies to different urban developments and climates.
The aim is to develop a setup which links detailed urban development models, hydrological and hydrodynamic models, as well as data-driven methods to assess the performance of different water management strategies. Socio-economic evaluation of different strategies will be performed in collaboration with a PhD student and the acceptance of modelling methods should be validated with relevant stakeholders from industry, utilities and municipalities.
The position involves teaching obligations up to 20% of the allocated work time, as well as administrative tasks in the Water Smart Cities project.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
The position will be placed at DTU Lyngby Campus. The period of employment is 3 years.
