What to expect
The DSB IT Graduate Program is a 24-month program that will push you out of your comfort zone and kick-start your personal and professional development.
Our graduate program offers you the chance to become part of a supportive network and to work with colleagues from all levels and across the organization.
The program includes your own mentor who will support you and give ongoing feedback and tangible career development plans throughout the full 24-month period.
The program covers three parts:
1. An introduction to DSB as a whole and IT.
2. Three 7-month rotations in different teams, both in and outside of DSB IT. Every rotation is a full position with clear responsibilities and expectations.
3. A Graduate Community including special assignments together with the other graduates.
After completing the program, you will have acquired the skills and experiences that enable you to succeed in a large and complex organization – and most importantly you will have the opportunity to continue your career in DSB.

What you will do
The program will provide you the fundamental knowledge to move into various roles as managing and maintaining 3rd party software provided by vendors. Also, procurement and tendering will be a part your job.
You will be the focal point for a varied system portfolio that delivers IT solutions to DSB's various business areas, including covers documentation systems of our trains, contract management systems, cross-cutting platforms such as Office365 and MS Dynamics and SAP-platform. You get a crucial and close relationship with the users of the systems as well as with the SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) development teams that use the platforms. You are going to have many balls in the air at the same time. In the interaction with internal and external stakeholders, emphasis is placed on good collaboration skills and the ability to communicate on several levels. You will also be involved in procurement of new systems.
Your tasks will be very varied and will include:
- Advising the business and development teams in relation to the development of the application portfolio
- Plan and manage management tasks
- Responsible for the management budget for own applications, including input for determining the budget, management and follow-up on the budget during the year
- Responsible for licenses, including entering and following up on license agreements in collaboration with the involvement of DSB’s Purchasing Department
- Conclusion and follow-up on supplier contracts
- Follow-up and reporting on application operating status to stakeholders
- Ensure operationally efficient systems in collaboration with the operating supplier
- Maintain a good and precise dialogue as well as a good collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Contributes to the preparation of system roadmap and lifecycle management in collaboration with architects
- Market surveys for new systems
- Preparing tenders
- Evaluating bids
- Negotiating vendor contracts
Who you will work with
Your personal graduate program will be anchored in a Shared IT Service Department and the SAP Department within DSB IT where you will be attached to our System Managers. Through your daily work and the rotations in the program you will get broad exposure to the whole organization both in IT and in business departments outside of the IT department.
You will work directly with a wide range of people with distinct roles and background - including technical specialists, System managers, business owners and leadership. You will also have to engage and work with vendors.
The rapid development and high demand we are experiencing means that we are busy. But we are also a dynamic department who have a lot of fun together. We switch between being very detail-oriented and very structured to other times rise to a helicopter perspective and make overall decisions. The common denominator is quality in everything we do.
Why we need you
DSB has ambitious plans towards 2030 and is facing massive purchases of new trains and billions in investments in infrastructure. It requires a completely new way of running both the train operation and the company, and DSB is facing significant development of many areas.
Therefore, massive investments are being made in these years in implementing an ambitious digitization plan, which is expected to be fully executed in 2025.
In addition to this DSB IT have already undergone a significant transformation while embedding SAFe 5.0 and a true agile culture over the previous four years.

To be successful Graduate, it is important that you thrive on teamwork, that you are inquisitive and have technical flair combined with the desire to coordinate many different tasks and interact with many people. You manage to maintain a good overview and understand contexts while you can also go into detail if necessary. You thrive on having a large interface and are good at communicating with different audiences.
And of course, a good sense of humor and positive engagement in solving challenges is a bonus.
